My Story
God has really changed my life in the last couple of years.
My mom got saved when I was about 3 and she started taking my sister and I to church. I remember going up for salvation when I was very young so grew up believing in Jesus.
I went to a christian primary school and through this and church, started to learn about Jesus.I remember one church service in sunday school we all got prayed for, and this lady who prayed for me said 'God has great things planned for your life'. I believed He was there but never really desired to know much about Him. I suffered from depression and only recently remembered this lovely Christian teacher, Mrs Bogardt who used to counsel me on my lunch breaks.
At 14 my family moved here to England and I thought it was great! I started going out with my friends and drinking - why not, it was fun. Its strange though, because even through that there were some things I refused to do because I just knew they were wrong. It shows how God was keeping me safe even when I didn't really know Him on a personal level.
I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and going clubbing, we even formed a band and started gigging in Bristol. Turns out one of the guys in the band started to hate me and wanted to kick me out, so the band ended (God's intervention now I can see).Later I decided that I would like to join the army for a while so went through army officer selection procedures and passed, as well as getting accepted to study at Bristol university. I had everything going for me in the worlds eyes but was lacking a sense of peace about my life. In October 2004 while jogging with friends, I got hit by a car going at about 40mph. Its strange but it was all so clear to me, I knew exactly what was happening and as I was being hit I just heard 'Jesus!' and then 'Angels!!' inside of me.I lay there on the pavement and in tears thought 'God must actually want me here for something.', as deep down I had been feeling worthless and wondering what the point of me living was. I walked away with a small cut on my head and a bruised leg. (God again, literally saving my life). From that point I was not satisfied with my life as it was. I stopped drinking and then going clubbing with my friends-I had a renewed sense that it was wrong and began to lose my desire for it.
Then in August 2005 I went to Carmel Church's (my church I attended sporadically for a couple of years)Youth camp.
It's funny how God works!! The preaching that week was all about 'dreams', like 'what are your dreams for your life' etc. I thought 'yeah, I have my dreams and I'm on my way' but I had this nagging and uneasy sense that something wasn't right. One evening that week I just gave myself and all my dreams up to God, I knew that I couldn't fight Him any longer. I decided to go to Bible College that year instead (was about to start uni in a couple of weeks so had to phone up and cancel!). Since then God has been transforming my life and revealing how He loves me so much that He was even working in my life before I really knew/recognised Him.Oh - and by the way He is doing the same in yours, even if you don't see it. He loves each one of us the same so you might as well save yourself some time and give your life up to Him now!! In exchange for it you will get Him, His love and peace and and a strength that no-matter what may happen in your life, all is secure because the safest place to be is in Gods hands.
