My Story

My own testimony of how I came to salvation is a real life proof of the Word being alive and powerful. I used to live and work in London in about 1992, I had a flat in Kensington where some of the rich and famous live and I had a good job, but then one day all the bottom fell out of this because I lost my job and my flat because I couldn't afford to pay for it. I ended up on the street drinking with some of the guys who were in the same situation as me and then it came time to have to sleep rough and as was settling down some people came with a van with 'Jesus is Lord' on the side of it and they asked me if I wanted to go back with them to the house.

When I had been at the house for a couple of weeks, they asked me if I wanted to take part in a Bible study, so I said okay. We read from a book called Jesus Our Foundation and the first question was "What state were you in before you believed?'

I looked up the answer from Ephesians 2:1 which said

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins...", and I have since realised that this must have convicted me that I was a sinner.

Then the next question was, 'What happened after you believed?' and for this answer I read Eph 1:13 which said, "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise." In the instant that I read this scripture verse, that same Holy Spirit of promise came on me and sealed me just as this verse has said.
