My Story
I knew church from a very young age. My dad is a devout Catholic and attendss Mass every weekend. My mom was brought up Methodist but converted to the Catholic church after marrying my dad. I was brought up Catholic. I went to a Catholic school as well.
My mom and dad separated when I was 12 and my life fell apart. After my parents spearated, my mom got born again. She started to grow as a christian and in my teenage years would share a bit with me about a real relationship with Jesus. I was not interested in her faith at all because we were taught at school that the Catholic church is the only true Christian church because it was the church left on earth by Christ. There was something different about my mom when she prayed as well, she could pray in tongues and that was something I wanted to do as well. God made a way for me and the Catholic church that I was attending at the time held a Life In The Spirit Seminiar which was a 8 week course teaching about the Holy Spirit and The Gifts of The Holy Spirit. My name was the first on the list and I was baptised in the Holy Spirit.
I felt so different after that. Prayer was something different. It had life and connection with God. A few months later I was invited to attend a charismatic youth group not far from where I lived. These young people were sold out to God. They weren't the normal young people that I knew who got drunk on the weekend and partied. At this youth group the Word was preached and my spirit was getting fed. I kept going back and from then on a new life in Christ began.
God loves us and he doesn't want to leave us the way were after we committed our lives to Him. God's work in my life has been amazing. I spent 2 years in Bible College at Rhema in Johannesburg and have had the opportunity to serve God in children's ministry. God has blessed me with the best wife and 2 wonderful sons.
His work in us is never complete because He loves us so much and has so much for us. Was finding God a good thing? You bet!
